The Quillen College of Medicine, Department of OB/GYN is accepting applications for full-time and/or part-time Hospitalist/Assistant Professor at the Johnson City Medical Center/Niswonger Children’s Hospital. The hospitalist will serve as the attending physician for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This provider will provide coverage for the ETSU OB/GYN hospital service and provide supervision and education of resident physicians and medical students from ETSU.
The Physician is responsible for coverage of labor and delivery, emergency department, inpatient consultations, and OB/GYN inpatient admissions and OB/GYN patient transfers. They will be in attendance for all resident-performed procedures during their assigned shifts. Supervision of care of triage patients will be expected to allow for compensation for these visits.
The expected time commitment for a Full Time Faculty will average two (2) twenty-four-hour shifts per week (eight shifts per month), but the number and timing are flexible. These shifts will occur during both weekday and weekend days and be assigned in conjunction with the other OB/GYN hospitalists and general OB/GYN physicians in the call rotation. Holidays are included on a rotating basis with the other faculty sharing calls.
Completion of corresponding medical records and billing worksheets is required. Evaluations of students and resident physicians will be performed on an ongoing basis. Clinical education in the form of didactic lectures, informal discussions, and precepting is expected.
Clinical research and performance improvement projects, in conjunction with residents and students, will be expected. Participation in the hospital department and hospital committees is encouraged.
This position will report to the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The position is based on an annual renewal contract assuming deliverables are achieved.
Our OB/GYN service coverage is focused at Niswonger Children’s where we deliver approximately 1400 patients, both the patients from our ETSU clinics as well as referred patients from other facilities in NE Tennessee and SW Virginia. These referrals are for our OB/GYN expertise as well as our Neonatology services and NICU. Maternal Fetal Medicine consultation services are available 24/7.
A portion of this position is grant-funded.
