The 2026 SOGH ACM is scheduled to take place September 26-30 in Chicago, Illinois. We will be offering both in-person and virtual attendance options for this meeting. Please note that some of our meeting content will be available to in-person attendees only. This will be indicated throughout the information below and on the registration form. Registration Cancellation Policy
All cancellations/attendance format changes for the 2026 ACM must be submitted in writing by email to SOGHadmin@societyofobgynhospitalists.org:
- A $100 cancellation processing fee will be charged prior to August 31, 2026
- No refund will be given for cancellations after August 31, 2026

Simulation Course Descriptions
In this course, attendees will rotate through 3 OB Emergency Scenarios:
1. Peripartum Cardiomyopathy

2. Pulmonary Embolism Leading to Maternal Cardiac Arrest

3. Surgical Management of Ectopic with Bowel Injury and Sepsis

* The Emergency Simulation Course is a 4-hour course consisting of 3 simulations encompassing common and not so common medical emergencies that the OBGYN Hospitalist may encounter. Participants will rotate through all 3 rooms. Each room consists of 2 scenarios on the chosen topics (see below). This is a hands-on participation course; comfortable attire is recommended. Developing teamwork and communication skills is emphasized rather than testing clinical knowledge (relevant algorithms and flow charts are provided in the rooms). Pre-course review materials (our “inverted classroom”) on the topics serve as the lecture component and are sent out approximately a month prior to the course. Pre and posttests that focus on the learning objectives will also be sent. This course is also recommended for SOGH members who are on or plan to join the SOGH Simulation Committee.
Operative Vaginal Delivery & Shoulder Dystocia
Participants will rotate through 3 stations to practice and strengthen their management of:
*Shoulder Dystocia
*Vacuum assisted vaginal delivery
*Forceps assisted vaginal delivery.
Registration is limited so all that participants will have ample opportunity for one-on-one instruction. This is a hands-on skills workshop. comfortable attire is recommended.

Coaching Clinicians to Communicate Effectively with Patients and Families After Adverse Events and Medical Errors

* This 2.5-hour training workshop is designed to improve clinicians’ skills in effectively communicating with patients and families following adverse events and medical errors. The session will include practice scenarios involving adverse events and medical errors, feedback from trained coaches, and the use of support documents such as a Communication Tip Sheet and Coaching Guide. The materials were developed from the PACT Collaborative (Institute of Healthcare Improvement, Ariadne Labs, and the Collaborative for Accountability and Improvement) and the Mayo Clinic.

* This 4-hour course will prepare participants to run simulations at their own institutions. The basics of creating and running a simulation will be covered: from preparation to running the simulation to debriefing. The course also includes an overview of TeamSTEPPS. The first part of the course is composed of lectures, then participants will divide into small groups to create and run a brief simulation. This course is now required for SOGH Simulation Committee members who want to become Simulation Facilitators.

SOGH Future Leaders Award
Apply Today!
SOGH is once again pleased to announce the Future Leaders Award. This award covers the cost of registration for the 2026 Annual Clinical Meeting in Chicago, IL and includes a $500 travel stipend. Current medical students, residents, and fellows are eligible for this award. If selected as a Future Leader, you will be assigned a mentor responsible for managing a portion of the ACM. During the conference, you will help with the execution of that portion of the meeting. Areas include simulation, hands-on skills stations, social media, afternoon workshops, and general conference execution. When not engaged in your area of responsibility, you will be able to enjoy the rest of the meeting.
Interested applicants are invited to apply online by Friday, April 24. Please write a short paragraph detailing why you would like to be a part of the meeting and how this experience will help you with your career goals. In addition, please include a letter of recommendation from your Program Director, faculty advisor, or other mentor. Award recipients must be in attendance from Sunday afternoon, September 26th through Tuesday, September 29th. Additional activities may be assigned to those who are able to attend the entirety of the conference. At the completion of the ACM, recipients will provide a brief write-up documenting their experience with the conference and lessons learned. This will be included in the SOGH Monthly Digest.
Call for Abstracts
Submit your abstract for presentation at the 2026 SOGH Annual Clinical Meeting in Chicago, IL, September 26-30, 2026.This national meeting provides an outstanding opportunity to showcase your research and clinical innovations in OB/GYN Hospital Medicine.
Priority will be given to topics that support OB/GYN Hospital Medicine. Topics may include, but are not limited to:
- In-hospital Obstetrics
- Emergency Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Quality metrics and patient safety
- Simulation and staff education
- Team-based medicine
- Communication strategies
Types of Submissions Welcome
- Original clinical or basic science research
- Quality improvement projects, including impact studies and innovative protocols
- Case reports or case series
Presentation Opportunities
- Evening Poster Reception: Monday, September 28, 2026
- Oral Abstract Session: Tuesday afternoon, September 29, 2026
Submit an abstract for consideration. The highest-scoring submissions will be invited to present during the Tuesday oral abstract session.
The winner of the oral abstract session will be invited to present to the full general assembly on Wednesday morning, September 30, 2026 (winner must be present in person).
Cash prizes will be awarded to winning abstracts.
In addition, recognition will be given for the top trainee abstract, separate from the overall winning submission.
Publication
All accepted abstracts will be included in the SOGH Conference Bulletin published in the North American Proceedings in Gynecology & Obstetrics (NAPGO).
Presentation Format & Requirements
The 2026 ACM is planned as an in-person meeting with virtual attendance options. However, we anticipate that oral abstract and poster presentations will be delivered in person.
When submitting your abstract, please indicate whether you would opt out of an oral presentation if selected.
All authors with accepted abstracts will be required to submit their posters and/or presentations in a digital format. Additional details will be provided upon acceptance.
Please note: ACM registration is required for all accepted abstract presenters.
